We believe voters deserve accurate, unbiased information about how legislation aligns with the Idaho GOP Platform. To achieve this, we’ve built one of the most rigorous legislative analysis systems available—one that prioritizes objectivity over opinion and transparency over spin.

How We Rate Bills

Multi-System Analysis

Every bill is independently analyzed by multiple artificial intelligence systems. These systems read the actual bill text and evaluate it against each article in the Idaho GOP Platform—not headlines, not partisan talking points, just the legislation itself.

By using multiple AI systems rather than relying on a single source, we can:

  • Cross-verify findings to catch errors or oversights
  • Identify areas of uncertainty where reasonable interpretations may differ
  • Build confidence through agreement across independent analyses

Consensus-Based Ratings

When our AI systems analyze a bill, they each produce independent ratings. We then calculate a consensus rating based on their agreement.

  • High agreement between systems indicates a clear-cut case—the consensus rating is used
  • Lower agreement or disagreement results in a neutral rating (0) to avoid presenting uncertain conclusions as fact

This approach ensures that only clear, well-supported ratings are presented. When AI systems disagree, we err on the side of caution rather than guessing.

Rating Scale

Each article in the Idaho GOP Platform is scored on a simple scale:

  • +1 Bill text clearly supports this platform article
  • 0 Bill is neutral, unrelated, or models disagree
  • -1 Bill text clearly opposes this platform article

The total score is the sum of all platform article ratings, giving you a quick snapshot of overall alignment with the Idaho GOP Platform.

Our Principles

Text-Based Analysis

We analyze what the bill actually says, not:

  • What sponsors claim it will do
  • What opponents fear it might do
  • What similar bills have done elsewhere
  • Speculation about unintended consequences

If it’s not in the bill text, it’s not in our analysis.

No Editorial Bias

Our AI systems are specifically instructed to:

  • Avoid applying personal opinions or outside knowledge
  • Use only the Idaho GOP Platform articles—nothing more
  • Treat all political positions neutrally
  • Default to “neutral” when evidence is unclear or models disagree

We measure alignment with the Idaho GOP Platform. We don’t tell you how to feel about the results.

Transparency

We believe you should know how ratings are generated:

  • Our methodology is documented (you’re reading it!)

Limitations

We believe in being upfront about what our system can and cannot do:

WHAT WE DO WELL:

  • Objectively measure text alignment with the Idaho GOP Platform
  • Process large volumes of legislation quickly
  • Provide consistent, reproducible ratings
  • Rate conservatively when uncertain (neutral)

WHAT WE DON’T DO:

  • Predict real-world outcomes or consequences
  • Account for political context or legislative strategy
  • Evaluate implementation or enforcement
  • Make moral judgments about policy positions

Our ratings tell you how a bill’s text aligns with the Idaho GOP Platform. They don’t tell you whether the bill is “good” or “bad”—that’s for you to decide based on your own values.
